When Rangers defenseman Anton Stralman scored a bad angle goal on Tuukka Rask just two minutes into the third period to put the Blueshirts up 3-0, it looked as though the Bruins had finally run out of luck in their historic start to the season. But the ‘never say die’ attitude that this team has had possessed since Claude Julien’s took over as coach once again showed as the black and gold rallied to force overtime, scoring twice in the final two minutes to tie the game at three. The Rangers would eventually prevail in the shootout, but the late game heroics earned the Bruins another crucial point in this compressed season, finishing with four of a possible six against New York for the season.
